Objective estimation of drilling mode requires increasing the number of control parameters and data retrieval points of these parameters. Information scope enlarging allows optimizing the drilling process but significantly increases the cost of drilling.

An urgent task is to find such drilling parameters, which would allow reducing the number of control points without information reliability loss. In this case, the measured parameter should become the basis for the optimum drilling control system, which allows not only to improve the economic efficiency of the drilling process, but also to compensate for the self-oscillation of the drill string during its operation, leading to a significant increase of a mechanical rate when drilling a well.

The authors propose using a torque gradient parameter as such a universal parameter of monitoring and control that objectively presents a drill string’s dynamic processes during its operation.

The torque gradient is determined by the moment of rotation, motor capacity of the drill string drive, the torque dynamic increment, dynamic changes in the drive engine power, the rate of change of these increments, the drive shaft rotation speed and its dynamics. Consequently, the torque gradient parameter shows the influence of dissipative forces and their dynamics.

The possibility of building a drilling control system using a torque gradient is shown on the example of the patent RU 2569652 C1. Its advantages are determined.

Key words: torque gradient; control system of drilling; drilling strategy; dissipative forces; information reliability; data processing.

The authors of the article define the category of directional wells where application of the drilling method based on the use of a curved (in the project azimuth) water-shutoff drill pipe string is technologically efficient. The three-interval profile is calculated for this category of wells. It includes the interval of the zenith angle increase, stabilization intervals and zenith angle decrease. The choice of the project profile type is based on the account of technical and technological specific features of cluster wells drilling, their structures data, requirements for qualitative and speedy drilling, guarantee of conditions of standard drilling capacity of drill and casing pipe strings and the subsequent operation of wells.

Key words: cluster drilling; well profile; curved drill pipe string; water-shutoff drill pipe string.

EXTERNAL PRESSURE ON A DRILL PIPE CASING (ð. 28)

Alexander Ervandovich Saroyan

e-mail: Tatyanasf@aol.com

The article discusses the effect of pressure interrelation of cement grouting and drill fluid on a drill pipe casing. The value of the drill fluid pressure, the effect of which varies during operation, is determined.

Possible changes in the proportion of the drilling fluid during a well operation are considered. Based on the data obtained, some equation for calculation of the external pressure on a drill pipe string is submitted. Maximum specific gravity of the solution during operation is given. Estimation of the internal pressure in a drill pipe string and some method applied to calculate the external pressure of the drill pipe string is presented.

Key words: drill fluid pressure; specific gravity of the drill fluid during a well operation; method applied to calculate the external pressure of a drill pipe string.

The article discusses the problems of strength and tightness of sealing units and drawbacks of the existing power and strength methods applied to calculate sealing joints. The analysis of the destruction and damage of the sealing surfaces is conducted. It proved the fact that the cause of failure of the lock-control equipment is thermal stresses, which are not taken into account in the existing methods of calculation of sealing joints for durability. The influence of temperature deformations on the sealing surfaces strength of the body-seat of the bellows-operated valve is revealed, the order of stresses magnitudes is determined as well.

The index characterizing the process of sedimentation in cement fluids is water loss. The paper proves the fact that the sedimentary water loss depends on experimental sample height (i. e. from solution volume) and is nonlinear. When taking the percentage ratio of the water volume, dedicated during sedimentation, to the solution volume, as the index of sedimentary stability the researches do account of the fact that two values ratio can serve as an invariant index only in that case if there exists a linear dependence between them. That’s why there proposed some new index – coefficient of internal suffusion which is the vertical permeability ratio of a normal cement stone sample to vertical permeability of the cement stone sample, being investigated. The closer the index is to the unit, the better is the suffusion stability of the produced cementing slurry.

Key words: sedimentation; cementing slurry; water loss; layers splitting.

The results of studying the influence of the oxide expanding additive on the degree of contraction while hardening of the cement slurry on the basis of portland cement are presented. The comparative data on kinetics and degree of contraction, its dependence on the cement strength (degree of hydration of cementing) (vs. the typical composition without additive) while hardening in conditions of atmospheric and excessive pressure are obtained. Oxide additive effect strengthens contraction processes but the achieved cement expansion does not compensate the total reduction of the volume of «solution/stone + water» system. That is why the proplems related to feasibility of using the system of cement slurries with the effect of additives oxide expansion and reduction of contraction of portland cement slurries are considered.

Key words: expanding additives; contraction; cement slurry; cement strength; volumetric changes.
