The paper presents the experience of using a borehole oscillator (a source for creating longitudinal vibrations of a drill string) at the Grekovskoye field in the Samara region. The oscillator has shown its effectiveness when drilling directional wells in the sliding mode, providing an increase of mechanical rate of penetration (ROP), which ultimately led to a reduction in well construction time, as well as to reduction of the risk of differential sticking. The paper discusses in detail the process of occurrence of the most typical complication of differential sticking at the fields of the Samara region.

Keywords: complications; differential sticking; well; well construction; borehole oscillator; longitudinal vibrations; penetration rate; construction technology; torsional vibrations; bit; downhole screw motor.

The paper presents the results of the experiment carried out to determine the residual saturationof the pore space of a core material sampleby the drilling fluidsfiltrate. The presence of the residual saturation by the filtrate of the rock pore space reduces its effective porosity and, consequently, oil permeability. The results of such studies can be useful when studying the mechanism of a formation permeability decreasefor oil due to the penetration of the aqueous phase. Optimization of the parameters of the drilling fluid and its filtrate can help to reduce the negative impact on the formation during its opening.

Keywords: drilling fluid; flushing liquid; filtrate; permeability; core; saturation; experiment; restoration of permeability.

Well construction in case of the trap intrusion presence in the geological section is characterized by a complex of problems, which cause a decrease of the penetration rate, rapid wear of rock-cutting equipment, temporary, material costs of washing liquid management as well as accidents like drill strings sticking. The unpredictability of this geological formation behavior during of the drilling significantly complicates the penetration conditions. The time spent on preventing accidents in this interval can take from 4 to 42 days. The paper describes the experience, obtained during development of the Srednebotuobinskoye field (Yakutia) in the period of 2015–2020. The drilling in the interval of the trap intrusion is statistically analyzed, the technological methods and techniques taken for the purpose of efficient drilling are described. Practical recommendations for dolerite drilling have been developed, taking into account the accumulated knowledge.

Keywords: trap intrusion; dolerites; efficient drilling; drill string sticking.

The paper considers the possibility and feasibility of implementing in practice operational individual monitoring of drill pipe performance using RFID technology. The authors of the study carried out a mathematical modeling of changes in the strength characteristics and operability of drill pipes joint when changing its configuration as a result of creating a special technological deepening (STD) on the outer surface. It is shown how the change in the configuration of the outer surface of the drill pipes joint affects their strength characteristics and serviceability.

The paper considers the geological models of the South Caspian depression, clarifies the geological structures, studies the seismic-geological and geodynamic conditions of rocks occurring at great depths as well as models of the formation of oil and gas structures in non-anticlinal centers of paleoearthquakes. Based on the collection of geological, geophysical andseismological data, corresponding maps were constructed, reflecting the geodynamic conditions of the South Caspian depression. It was revealed that the formation of oil and gas accumulations are confined to sedimentary rocks located at the depths of 5–20 km, which are characterized by earthquake foci with a magnitude of М ≥ 6–8. It has been established that at the initial stage due to geodynamic stresses, deformation processes occur and a fractured medium is formed, which over time, undergoes deformation. At the next stage, a tectonic fracture of the structure occurs, leading to the formation of acceptable conditions for the migration of hydrocarbons with their further accumulation.

Keywords: stress-strain condition; deformation in reservoirs; anticlinal and non-anticlinal structures; seismically active zones; earthquake hypocenter; focus of paleoearthquakes; tectonic fault; fractured environment; accumulation of hydrocarbons in foci of paleoearthquakes; migration.

When drilling wells in the fields of the Eastern Siberia, from time to time, there are low- and high-rate brine and brine-gas manifesting reservoirs with extremely high reservoir pressures, producing highly concentrated brines with a density higher than 1430 kg/m3. A manifestation of this kind significantly complicates the further construction of the well, because formation brine negatively influences the parameters of the washing fluid and exhibits high corrosive activity in relation to both drilling tools and cement stone. Brine suppression is not easy and, in some cases, ineffective work, causing great losses for the construction organization. The authors of the paper propose a variant of the technology for creating a chemical barrier to isolate the developing formation. This method is based on the creation of an anti-filtration curtain from the insoluble sediment, which is formed in the pore space of the near well bottom zone of the reservoir as a result of the reaction of a potassium carbonate solution with the reservoir brine. The chemical barrier helps to stop brine production and makes it possible to continue the construction of the well. To improve the quality of a well cementing in the intervals of occurrence of monolithic rock salt layers, a method for preliminary coating the surface of halite with a polymer-salt film, consisting of cellulose simple ether macromolecules – CMC and MC, is proposed.

Keywords: brine gas manifestation; abnormally high reservoir pressure; potassium carbonate; formation brine; reaction; anti-seepage curtain.

This paper deals with the problem that arises during the operation of wells in the winter period, when in conditions of extremely low temperatures there occur intra-shift losses of oil production due to periodic freezing of oil field equipment. An example of the negative effect of low temperatures is the freezing of a wellhead check valve in wells equipped with an ESP. As a result of the analysis and pilot production tests, it was proposed to use exothermic chemical reactions based on the interaction of magnesium with water instead of mobile steam dewaxing units (MSU) in those cases when there is no possibility of using MSU or waiting for the unit is impractical.

Keywords: heat evolution; chemical reaction; oilfield equipment; electrical submersible pumping unit (ESP); parts of the Christmas tree; mobile steam dewaxing unit.

Models for selecting the optimal compositions of process fluids for killing wells, the features of which are determined by their information support and conditions of use, are considered. On the example of the results of studies of the rheological and surface properties of the biopolymer system, the possibility of its use as a well killing fluid for the conditions of the Bugruvatovsky oil field is shown.

Keywords: biopolymer system for wells killing; interfacial tension coefficient; composition selection model; surfactants; rheological properties.
