Results of studies on the hydrocarbon pollution of the Sea of Azov south-eastern part conducted in 2013 within the limits of the licensed area of LLC «NK «Priazovneft» are presented. Distribution is considered of oil products (hydrocarbons and resins) in the water and bottom sediments of the site in question including the sea and the coastal area and the Kurchanskiy liman. The origin of paraffin and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons found in the marine ecosystem has been characterized. The distribution of paraffin hydrocarbons in the water column is characterized by predominance of either low molecular C15–C18 alkanes or even-numbered alkanes (C16–C26). In the bottom sediments predominance of C17 and high molecular odd-numbered n-alkanes (C27, C29, C31 and C33) is noted. In water PAH are dominated by naphthalene, 2-methylnaphthalene, phenanthrene, fluoranthene and chrysene, while in bottom sediments only chrysene is observed in great concentrations.

Results of hydrobiological studies conducted in summer 2013 in the licensed area of LLC «NK «Priazovneft» in the south-eastern part of the Sea of Azov and in the Kurchanskiy liman are presented. The structure and composition of biological communities have been characterized including data on bacterio-, phyto- and zooplankton, zooneuston, bacterio- and zoobenthos. Comparative analysis of the structure and distribution of hydrobiological communities in the sea and coastal part of the Sea of Azov and the Temryuk Bay as well as the Kurchanskiy liman has been made. According to obtained data for the last few years the relationship and occurrence of some individual groups of plankton and benthos organisms is being changed which testifies about succession changes of structures of investigated biological communities. Data of interannual dynamics of ecosystems basic links are being discussed.

Results are presented on the research into heavy metal pollution that were conducted at the licensed site of LLC «NK «Priazovneft» in the south-eastern Sea of Azov in 2013. The level of water and bottom sediments pollution has been assessed according to Russian and international standards. Specific distribution of heavy metals in the water and bottom sediments of the marine and coastal zones of the region under consideration as well as in Kurchanskiy liman is shown and compared with the data obtained earlier. The total water pollution is assessed by the sum of averaged maximum permissible concentrations, and the pollution of bottom sediments is assessed by the sum of averaged concentrations typical of different types of bottom sediments of the Sea of Azov, long-term observations have allowed us to collect these data.

Pollution of the water and bottom sediments at the Temryuk-Akhtarsk licensed site of LLC «NK «Priazovneft» in the Sea of Azov by organochlorine pesticides and polychlorinated biphenyls in 2013 has been studied and the results are presented. There, in the samples of water and bottom sediments, n,n'-DDE, n,n'-DDD and n,n'-DDT were found. In the water of Kurchansky liman and in the bottom sediments in the whole water area of the Temryuk-Akhtarsk licensed area polychlorbiphenils were not found. From defined congeners of PCB in the water thickness of the water area studied. The most persistent and dangerous high-chlorinated polybiphenyls (penta- and hexachlorbiphenyls) were identified, among them dioxine-type congeners were found.

In the Verbyanaya Spit area (the Sea of Azov) in an attempt to create large-scale cartographic base and subsequent thematic mapping of the geographical environment components airborne laser scanning and aerial photography were conducted. Airborne laser scanning data formed the basis of a comprehensive study of the coastal zone components. Methodical research apparatus includes receiving and processing technology of laser reflection points, constructing high-precision digital elevation model and raster surfaces. Mosaic of aerial photographs is converted into a format mosaic – a geometrically correct image of the terrain. Set of high-precision digital surface models and thematic raster images obtained for specific dates, allows to analyze the dynamic adjustment of components of the coastal zone (shoreline, beach, shore dam with surge prism).

Information about the functions that are performed in the biosphere by birth-flooded complexes is given. Ichthyological, ornithological and floristical significance of Kuban delta is disclosed. The firth-flooded landscapes are a source of aesthetic and artistic inspiration, they provide the shelter to wild animals and form the basis of important local traditions of social, economic and cultural character. Wetlands provide conditions for the development of a number of species of wildlife. The flooded estuaries are important and necessary to ensure the health, welfare and safety of people. The negative human impact on the various components of the firth-flooded natural complex is considered. A number of management solutions for sustainable development of the firth-flooded complex «Kuban Delta» are proposed. The necessity of Kuban river delta wetlands preserving and selection of protected area are grounded.

The article considers the Kulikovo-Kurchanskaya group of limans, which is the receiver of waste water from irrigated rice fields. Correction to the hydrological regime subject to receipt both by river and sea waters is made. Morphometry of this group basic limans is considered and water balance of Kulikovskiy and Kurganskiy limans is calculated. The project of improving exchange of water between the limans by deepening channels and canal systems is developed.

The problems of presence and determination of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in automobile marketable petrols and their combustion products are discussed. Their origin is investigated and the quantitative determination of their content in explored samples is performed by chromatography-mass spectrometry. It is determined that there is a complex of tricyclic condensed arenes such as phenanthrene, anthracene and methyl-derivations in all samples of petrols. The established ratios of phenanthrene to 2-methylphenanthrene and 3-methylphenanthrene are 0,4…1,1 for all samples, and the ratios of phenanthrene to 9-methylphenanthrene and 1-methylphenanthrene – 3,3…5,8 and 1,8…4,1 accordingly, the ratios of phenanthrene to anthracene are over the range from 10,8 to 56,5. It is shown that the ratios of phenanthrenes are permanent for petrols ÀÈ-92 and ÀÈ-95 belonging to the same manufacturer and practically don´t change for all examined samples. That fact can be used as identification feature of petrol sample. The researches have shown the presence of PAHs including phenanthrene, anthracene and methyl-derivations in automobile exhausts. The abundant quantity of PAHs is found out in exhausts of an automobile that is not equipped with a catalyst converter, the minimal quantity – in exhausts of automobiles with a catalytic afterburner system.

Key words: tricyclic condensed arenes; petrols; catalytic reforming; catalytic converter; automobile exhausts; chromatography-mass spectrometry.

Observations on the condition of shore protection dam with operating road are being performed after its construction in 2007. The dam is built within the framework of investment project, called upon to provide safety of water-marsh area, in according with the Ramsar Convention. Monitoring included the research into the realignment of dam, beach and underwater slope of Verbyanaya spit up to 5 m depth, the analysis of beach and bottom sediments changeability. Levelling and batimetric measurements were carried out in accordance with the technical requirements once a year, on 15 transverse profiles, bolted by bench marks on the territory. The analysis of obtained data has shown that hydrotecnical structures have stopped the erosion of the windward coast of the spit and disappearance of drifts in limans and lagoons water area. The dam basically maintains the size provided by the project. The Verbyanaya spit underwater slope is subjected to space-temporary realignment, controlled by the complex of hydrometeorological and lithological factors.
