During the last decade, manufacturers developed and introduced a large number of biological products for the restoration and cleaning of lands contaminated by hydrocarbons. The lack of specific information on the developments, composition and principle of biological products action, technology of their production makes it impossible to fully reproduce the technology of a biological product use, to assess and compare the effectiveness of biological products, available in the market. It is concluded that, as proved by practice, relying on information from the developer, it is difficult, and often impossible, to achieve the declared results in cleaning soil from petroleum products (PP). The specialists of the institute carried out two series of experiments to study the efficiency of land cleaning from petroleum products with the help of modern biological products presented on the domestic market, including stimulants of soil bacteria increase.

The use of agriculture wastes (AW) as raw materials to obtain sorbents, based on them, used when eliminating oil and petroleum product spills was studied. The sorption properties of agriculture wastes were investigated. A method for modifying agricultural wastes in order to increase their sorption and selective properties with respect to oil and petroleum products is proposed. The authors of the paper have developed a regional approach to the rational use of agricultural wastes and obtaining sorbing materials based on them in order to optimize work on the elimination of the aftereffects of oil spills and recycling of agricultural wastes in the regions of the country.

Keywords: waste; husk; stalks; pulp; adsorbent; material; spill; oil; oil product; pollution; elimination.

The biological remediation method is the most rational one to be used for oil-contaminated areas rehabilitation. This method is based on the use of the biochemical potential of oil-oxidizing microorganisms for hydrocarbons utilization. Currently, the use of many biological products in the areas with a short thermal period is limited due to the long degradation period of oil and oil products, as well as the deactivation of many known bacteria under low temperature conditions. The paper presents the results of soil bioremediation in the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous District – Yugra, the region with a short vegetation period. The bioremediation process of oil-contaminated soils with the combined use of a biological oil destructor, adapted to the conditions of the Western Siberia and a soil structurer is described. It was proposed to use humic-mineral complex obtained from peat. The bioremediation method for degraded soils of the Western Siberia is introduced in the paper. The results of the biological oil destructor and soil structurer full-scale approbation in real conditions are presented. They proved high oil-oxidizing activity in a relatively short period of time including the areas with high salt content. The biological product, which includes strains of microorganisms adapted to the conditions of the Western Siberia, can be further used in the areas with similar climatic conditions.

Keywords: remediation; bioremediation; oil destructor; biological product; natural microorganisms; soil structurer; ecology; the Western Siberia.

The paper presents the results of a study of the zoo-benthos species composition of and the complexity of the benthos communities’ structural organization in the Uda River of the Baikal River System (Ulan-Ude) in order to study the patterns of bottom sediments self-purification. The biotic mechanism of the biocenosis formation, involved in self-purification processes (tubificids and gastropods) was revealed. The studies carried out indicate the applicability of a number of indicators for characterizing water quality (Shannon's species diversity index, Pantle – Bucca saprobity index as modified by Sladecek, Woodiwiss' biotic index). A premise has been obtained about possible achievement of the polluted bottom sediments by oil products of more than 600 g/kg in the absence of spontaneous release of oil films onto the water surface. A structural and logical diagram of oil pollution formation has been developed, illustrating the degree of impact of the petrochemical industry on various components of the environment during the spread of oil pollution. The trends of intensification of bottom sediments cleaning are established as one of the approaches to the river system restoration.

The analysis of the existing practice of main pipelines construction and operation proves the necessity of accounting for the risk of activation and development of dangerous geological processes both in the construction zone and in the adjacent territory. The paper examines the factors that influence the development of erosion processes along the main pipeline route both during construction and during its operation. The engineering measures are analyzed and the methods which could decrease the erosion negative effect, applied for main types of erosive violations characteristic of the main pipeline routes. Recommendations are proposed to reduce the negative impact of erosion process activation the implementation of which provides for the soil protection and the integrity of the main pipeline, to prevent the occurrence of an accident and a negative impact on the environmental environment of the region.

Keywords: linear part of main pipelines; dangerous geological processes; restoration of vegetation and soil cover; anti-erosion measures; soil reclamation; natural ecological environment; prevention of emergency situations; negative impact on the environmental environment of the region.

The paper discusses the concept of organization and implementation of permafrost (geocryological) monitoring when developing oil and gas facilities in the permafrost regions. Scientifically grounded planning and implementation of measures to ensure the stability of frozen soils under the influence of both natural and anthropogenic factors will make it possible to predict undesirable cryogenic phenomena and to develop proactive measures in a timely manner. The stages and content of permafrost monitoring, proposed in this paper, are based on many years of experience in the implementation of geocryological monitoring at oil and gas facilities in the Nenets Autonomous District located in the areas of complete and massive-island spreading of permafrost. Recommendations are given for the arrangement of observation wells for the implementation of regular thermometric monitoring the upper part of the permafrost, which is the carrier for surface structures.

Keywords: permafrost; geocryological monitoring; thermometric wells; cryolithic zone; oil and gas facilities; soil stability.

The paper presents the results of observations of the permafrost state in the area of the Ardalinskoe oil field location in the Nenets Autonomous Okrug, which were carried out in the period of 1995–2016. Within the framework the geocryological monitoring was carried out monthly in 30 thermometric wells of 20 meters deep, specially equipped by thermistors, located within the limits of oil and gas field facilities. The analysis showed a gradual increase of the frozen strata temperature in the studied interval of depths both from the surface due to the climate warming and from the depth under the influence underground waters migration, thus causing a significant decrease of the soils bearing capacity. It is concluded that regular monitoring of the permafrost allows taking timely measures to provide the stability and safety of facilities operation, built in permafrost.

Keywords: Nenets Autonomous Okrug; Ardalinskoye field; permafrost; thawing of permafrost; geocryological monitoring.

The paper presents the information about the beginning of the fourth energy transition, which is the characterized by a widespread use of renewable energy sources and the displacement of fossil fuels. At this stage, unlike the previous three ones, the main driver is not so much the economic attractiveness of new energy sources, but a qualitatively new factor – de-carbonization and the fight against the global climate change. The countries that are members of the Eurasian Economic Union, following global trends, carry out activities aimed at introducing new capacities based on renewable energy resources. As a result, the installed capacity of solar and wind power plants since 2010 has increased to 1810 and 500 MW, respectively, that is, approximately 1800 and 33 times.

Keywords: renewable energy sources; wind power plants; solar power plants; carbon dioxide.
