UPDATING OF LATERAL JET NOZZLES

OF ROLLING CUTTER DRILL BIT (p. 9)

The article presents the results of the work aimed at updating of rolling cutter drill bits with lateral jetting system of washing. Based on an analysis of the factors affecting the intensity of the rock destruction and removal during drilling, the basic conditions of the sludge particles separation, followed by their successful evacuation in the cramped conditions of the well bottom area, are identified and discussed. Researches of the geometric parameters influence on the basic nozzle spray characteristics are carried out. Mathematical models of two nozzles with a round and asymmetric hexagonal cross-sections are built and computed by "Ansys" software module.

Based on the above-mentioned studies, adopt a constructive design of a rolling cutter drill bit with a lateral jetting system of washing fitted by nozzles with an asymmetrical hexagonal cross-section is developed. The use of the proposed design of the rolling cutter drill bit with lateral jetting system of washing due to the better cleaning of teeth row grooves of rolling cutter drill bits and the well bottom zone in the whole from the slurry will increase the mechanical rate of drilling and penetration per a drill bit and consequently reduce the cost of drilling operations.

FULL-SCALE MODELING OF HYDRODYNAMIC PRESSURES ACTING

Growing demands to drilling equipment quality as well as the necessity of elimination of the lubrication systems’ existing shortcomings required development of some new lubrication systems with a forced injection of the lubricant into the friction zones of a drill bit bearings. The lubricant forced injection into the friction zone of the drill bit bearing is inevitably associated with energy consumption to pump the lubricant along the lubrication passages. That is why the problem of an energy source choice became the urgent one. When the drill bit is working in the bottom hole, zone the lube is affected by several types of power, including gravitational energy, rotational energy of the bit and the cones, energy of drilling mud movement and hydrostatic pressure energy. The results of the conducted preliminary analysis of all the energies acting on the bit proved the fact that hydrodynamic pressure energy appeared the most promising one to be used in the systems with the lubricant forced pumping into the drill bit bearing.

The researches were carried out using a 3D-model (six times decreased polymer copy) of a three-cone drill bit of 311.1 mm diameter in which the inner channels used for cone lubrication and well bottom cleaning were reproduced. A well bottom with piezometers was also simulated. It allows to determine hydrodynamic pressures when washing the well bottom with water in two places – in the area under the cones near the well bottom hole at the height of a ball plug. The developed physical model of a well bottom hole with a drill bit meets the requirements of geometrical, kinematic and hydrodynamic similarity.

The article describes the design and operation of a new type of mixing device on the frame-link coupling basis. The possibility of using the device, working at high rates of the shaft rotation as compared with the standard frame mixer when mixing low-viscous compositions is experimentally and theoretically proved. Experimental impact of blades position on the mixing capacity in the model device, including the characteristics of the above-described invention, is considered. The analysis of specific energy consumption in the frame-link coupling mixer under different diameters of blades position is presented. When comparing it with the typical frame mixer, the significant reduction of energy costs due to the decrease of the time of compositions’ particles mixing with different peripheral rate in case of the radial blades’ inclined position is noted.

THE SPIRITS AND PHENOLS IN INDUSTRIAL OILS (p. 24)

The molecular composition of industrial oils of I-20A and I-40A brands, which were manufactured by different companies, was researched by means of chromatography-mass spectrometric method. There were discovered about 220 toxic compounds, including more then 30 spirits and phenols as well as its derivatives. The maximum prime spirits dominate among monatomic spirits that were found in industrial oils. It was demonstrated that the molecular composition of industrial oils of each brand manufactured by different enterprises differ much. Some measures to protect the environment from the detected compounds are suggested.

The article highlights the main problems and specific features of standardization of oil and gas complex. Gas separators designed to protect electric centrifugal pumps from gas harmful influence are widely used in the fields of PJSC "NK" Rosneft". However, a significant drawback of their use is their relatively poor reliability in terms of fluid extraction containing abrasive particles. The conducted analysis allowed determining the dependence of failure frequency of rotor-type gas separators on quartz grains size available in the produced fluid. The dependence of the destruction rate on the fluid flow-rate is determined as well. It is found out that when using non-drum-type gas separators (swirl and auger type) under the same operating conditions, the damage doesn’t happen. The article discusses the possibility of using already known methods of increasing gas separators reliability and proposes application of several additional ones. The results of the analysis proved the fact that the most promising direction is the use of non-drum-type gas separators. The recommendations, offered in the article, will be used in the fields of PJSC "NK "Rosneft" to enhance the efficiency of mechanized oil production.

Economic losses of oil and gas producing companies due to transport networks corrosion are estimated. The efficiency of the external electrochemical corrosion protection of oil and gas production systems as well as the feasibility of modernization of the outer electrochemical protection with the aim of internal protection of wells flowlines is shown. The analysis of the corrosion situation in the group of the fields of Krasnodar territory is conducted and the areas of the maximum corrosion damages of wells flowlines are determined. The scheme of the cathodic protection device of internal surface of wells flowlines from crevice corrosion during water-oil-gas-sand mixture movement is proposed. The mechanism of crevice corrosion occurrence in the pipeline section is described. It is also shown that cathodic protection use reduces the intensity of crevice corrosion in the areas with a sharp change of the velocity vector.

The article deals with the existing method of calculation of flanged joints that are used in the oil and gas industry. Previously non-identified factors in the equations applied to determine the forces and stresses in the flange joint studs are defined. The methods of calculation are presented in the form of block-schemes with accounted and unaccounted factors, generalized formula for determining the stud’s strength in working conditions with account of new factors is derived.

The paper shows that the proposed generalized index of reliability of the system of block automated oilfield equipment characterizes the relative amount of production loss and has the advantage that it is independent of a well flow rate and makes it possible to compare the reliability of the systems with different flow-rates. Such index as equipment failure, which is defined as an event of its integrity violation leading to production loss is discussed. Loss of oil products is unacceptable in view of environmental protection, and can be regarded as a rare event with catastrophic consequences. In this regard, the collection of statistical data on oilfield equipment failures in the Far North conditions is rather difficult. However, even in these conditions, the estimated calculations of the level of the process equipment reliability should be carried out.

The article discusses the study of cathodic polarization impact on the protective coatings in view of pipeline operation stability. The main problem is postulated as kinetics of decrease in protective properties of coatings, in turn, leading to increase of emergencies occurrence. The probability of pipelines failure and the subsequent damage caused by emergency situations, which directly depends on the preservation of the protective coating continuity is considered as well.

This article analyzes the modern theories and practices of bituminous oils pipeline transportation together with low viscosity diluent. A detailed analysis of the rheological models of non-Newtonian fluids, during which a set of assumptions as per the algorithm of the rheological model selection, being used nowadays, was determined, is also conducted. The results of the comprehensive experimental studies of the rheological models of bituminous oils mixture of Ashalchinsky field and low-viscosity diluent, conducted by the authors, are presented. The aim of the experimental studies was to find the dependences of the rheological models parameters on the determining factors such as the diluent concentration and the mixture temperature. Based on the material of the conducted experimental studies, formulas for predicting the rheological properties of the oil mixture are derived and theoretically substantiated. The sequence of the rheological models changes from Newton’s simple one-parameter model to Carreau’s model that includes four independent parameters was established for the considered oil system. The proposed models describe the rheological properties of the oil mixture correctly and with a high degree of precision. Increase of the temperature and diluent concentration leads to the following sequence of changes of the rheological model of bituminous oil mixture and diluent: "Carreau’s model" – "Ellis’s model" – "Ostwald de Waal’s model" – "Newtonian fluid model." With account of the formulas obtained, the generalized algorithm of the rational parameters determination of bituminous oil transportation together with low viscosity diluent was obtained. The developed algorithm was applied in one of the portion of the pipeline system of Oil and Gas Production Department "Nurlatneft" between pumping stations DNS-5 "Chumachka"–Minnibaevsky central collection point (MCPS). Based on the comparative analysis, it was found out that the choice of transportation rational parameters provides the efficiency enhancement of bituminous oil transport.

The article is devoted to the problems of assessment of metal structures capacity based on the basis of the interpolation-type criteria use which are based on the principle of boundary interpolation. This approach allows to carry out rationing of defects with account of their location, sharpness in the top as well as properties of the main metal or welded connections. The analysis of the obtained experimental data when testing welded connections with surface defects in the central plane of a welded seam allows to estimate the range of their allowable sizes which don’t bring the decrease of the operational loads acting on the welded metal structures in the course of their operation, proceeding from ensuring the required level of the allowable stresses. This range of the defects allowable sizes is defined by a number of the parameters characterizing the type of the defect, mechanical properties of the welded connections metal, type, rigidity and concentration of the stressed state, metal structures thickness, operational conditions (temperature) as well as the accepted coefficient of stress margin.

TatNIPIneft’s engineers have developed a suite of technologies to control excess water production in terrigenous and carbonate reservoirs using various water shut-off chemicals. The paper presents the main findings of scientific research and pilot tests of remedial squeeze technologies over the past decade, and provides a description of these technologies as well as scope of application.

Vinyl polymer. This chemical compares favorably with other water-soluble acryl polymers in terms of settling efficiency, and providing tightly packed bed when exposed to brine solutions. Salts of polyvalent metals contained in formation water serve as structure-forming agents. Vinyl-polymer-based technology can be applied to shut-off calcium-chloride type water.

Silicon-based compositions. Combined experimental research efforts of TatNIPIneft and Novocheboksarsky Khimprom resulted in the development of silicon-based plugging composition, which upon hydrolysis releases gelation-inducing acid. Gelation time is controlled by adjusting water content in water shut-off composition, which ranges from 30 to 100 % of product volume for low-temperature wells; formation brine is used to make the composition in wintertime.

Polyvalent metal chloride salts. Upon hydrolysis, polyvalent metal chloride solutions form hydrogels of various consistency in the pore volume of carbonate reservoirs; this property was used as the basis in the development of water shut-off treatment technology for carbonate reservoirs.

Water-swellable elastomer. Work is underway on the implementation of water shut-off technology based on elastomer suspension in aqueous polyacrylamide solution which is most beneficial in fractured porous and fractured vuggy carbonate reservoirs with specific injectivity of at least 2 m3/(h∙mPa).

Microcement. Technology based on microcement solution with modifying additives ensures successful remedial squeeze jobs in reservoirs with injectivity of 0,2 m3/(h∙mPa). Microcement-based solution exhibits flow behavior comparable to that of water and good penetrating capacity, which allows injection into poor-injectivity zones, where conventional cement is not appropriate.

High-modulus water glass. According to experimental study results, the most suitable structure-forming agents for high-modulus water glass are carboxylic acid esters and amides. The technology is used to seal production casing leaks in high and low permeability zones, shut off the inflow of surface, formation, and bottom water in terrigenous reservoirs regardless of mineralization type and salinity of isolated water.

Fiber-reinforced cement systems. This remedial cementing technology uses cement compositions with reinforcing fiber additives made of highly oriented thermoplastic polymers to enhance efficiency of sealing treatments, improve cementing of extra casings and liners and ensure buildup of cement sheath under lost circulation conditions. Sealing ability of fiber-reinforced cement is 3,5 times higher than that without fibers.

Successful implementation of the designed suite of water shut-off technologies suggests they can yield positive results in terrigenous and carbonate reservoirs.
