Data are presented on the concentration and distribution of oil hydrocarbons in soils of background and industrial sites under oil mining of Sakhalin Island northeast. Features of vertical and lateral variability for levels of oil contamination in soils are discussed.

Results of research into thermochemical stability of new turbine oil are presented. Developed -32 oil has considerably big service life in comparison with standard -22 grade 1 oil, therefore volumes of waste oil and environmental contamination will be considerably reduced.

Biologic remediation step is the final step of oil-contaminated soil remediation process. The most effective biological preparations, humates and sorbents application are necessary to achieve the required norm of hydrocarbons concentration in soil. Based on the results of researches the conclusion was made on the application perspectiveness of oil destructors use for remediation of oil-contaminated soils.

New saprotrophic hydrocarbon oxidizing strain Mycobacterium sp. was isolated with the ability to active synthesis of high molecular weight acidic exopolysaccharide (EPS). Rheology properties of Mycobacterium sp. EPS bioproduct were better than of Ritizan which was tested as additive to drilling fluid. Its dynamic viscosity was stable at pH values 2,5 and 12,5, after exposition at 100 and after freezing and thawing.

On the pattern of oil treatment unit operation, equipped with nitrogen breathing and gas equalizing system, by oil filling the emissions of hydrocarbon vapors into the atmosphere have been calculated. The dependence of the efficiency of gas equalizing system on modes balance of oil filling and pumping out has been ascertained. The recommendations for emissions volumes reducing have been given.
